  • Description

Amisulpride is an atypical antipsychotic belonging to a group of benzamides. It connects selectively with high affinity to human dopaminergic D2/D3 receptor subtypes, whereas with no affinity subtypes D1, D4 and D5. Unlike conventional and other atypical neuroleptics, Amisulpride has not affinity for serotonin, alpha-adrenergic, histamine H1 and cholinergic receptors. Furthermore, it is not associated with sigma positions. This atypical pharmacological profile may explain the clinical efficacy of Amisulpride in terms of both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenic psychotic disorders and a lower tendency for development of extrapyramidal side effects.

    Indications

Amisulpride is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic schizophrenic disorders, in which positive symptoms (such as delusions, hallucinations, thought disorders) and/or negative symptoms (such as blunted affect, emotional and social withdrawal) are prominent, including patients characterised by predominant nеgative symptoms.
