• Diabetes without needles

    November 25, 2014

Nanomedicine has set another difficult task for itself – to relieve diabetics from the constant use of needles. Instead, they will take the necessary insulin in pill form. At present, patients can receive the substance only as an injection. The reason – it is difficult to absorb in the intestines when taken orally.

A team from the University of Massachusetts has set a goal for itself – to overcome the gastrointestinal barrier.

Scientists have already advanced in their development and have even created a new type of nanoparticles, which are absorbed successfully by using antibodies. Those who have diabetes after a few decades might never understand what it is to have to inject insulin every day.
